Many manufacturers have found that they can use portable stacking racks to reduce indirect labor in their operations.

Many products are handled multiple times from the time they are received until they are shipped out as part of a finished product. At the receiving dock items are unloaded and sorted for storage. Then the items are moved to a warehouse or staging area. Later they are moved to the manufacturing operation, and stacking palletmaybe from there back into work-in-process storage. Finally, products are moved to the shipping dock to be loaded into out-bound carriers.

Stacking pallets from Tier-Rack Corporation have been useful to many companies in reducing time and labor in all this material handling. Many goods that are difficult to stack – for instance rolls of carpet pad or bolts of cloth – can easily be stored on stack racks. Instead of trying to carry one or two bolts of cloth, one person can load a portable rack with many bolts and carry the whole load to the storage location at one time. This is both a time saver and it also reduces the risk of injury.

Carpet pad rackAt the manufacturing operation, a full container of the raw material can be delivered so operators do not have to make multiple trips from the line to the storage area. Unused raw materials can easily be returned to the storage location by picking up the partially empty stack rack.
