The Tire Industry Association’s Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) has issued best management practices guidelines for proper tire storage.

The document outlines the steps tire dealers must take in storing tires to maximize the service life of their inventory, TIA said.

“If tires are not stored correctly, it may result in the loss of performance as prolonged exposure to outside forces like heat, direct sunlight and ozone can affect the integrity of the materials,” TIA said.

The document includes guidelines for outdoor and long-term storage of vehicles, TIA said.

This is the seventh best management practices compilation TIA has drafted, covering handling, transporting, recycling and/or disposing of materials important to tire dealers, including tires, used oil, fluids, degreasers and batteries. All available for free download at www.tireindustry.org.

If you need shipping containers for tires, Tier-RackR Corporation manufactures a folding rack for the economical return of the racks. Since the posts are not removed from the rack, there is no concern about losing some posts during the return trip. As with all of our varieties of tire racks, these can be made for any size and load capacity that you need. These shipping racks can be designed with or without decking to meet your needs. They are strong enough to withstand years of use and material handling.  The tire and rack combination is what 90% of tire distributors use to store tires effectively.

Tier-Rack Corporation has been a leader in rack solutions and flexible warehouse racking systems for almost sixty years. The original Tier-RackR pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load-NesterR all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs. Our portable stacking racks and rack systems are designed to handle and store even the most fragile, odd-shaped, and awkward merchandise. They can be designed to transport two loads at a time. Our stack racks reduce handling time, stack up to six high, and they are capable of supporting thousands of pounds per unit load. All Tier-Rack racks are engineered with a "2-to-1" safety factor to ensure the racks will perform safely and last for decades. For more information, visit http://tier-rack.com today.
